Getting There

Drive your car to The Springs in Wellington Park.

A wonderfully diverse loop walk, past historic huts, curious geological features and through a variety of vegetation.

From The Springs the route contours around the slopes of kunanyi / Mount Wellington passing Sphinx Rock with its large sandstone lookout platform. Continuing on you will pass Rock, Lone and then Junction Cabins before climbing uphill towards The Chalet. On the left is Crocodile Rock, another aptly named sandstone feature. If walking with kids consider turning back a the Chalet. From The Chalet the track skirts the base of the spectacular Organ Pipes. These soaring dolerite columns are popular with rock climbers. During early summer, bright red waratah flowers light up the bush along this track. A steady downhill gradient then brings you back to The Springs.
